Great Performance by Scholar Bowl Students
by Angela Hill
Several students in 5th and 6th grades have been working for the past several weeks preparing for a Scholar Bowl hosted by New Haven School. These students have given up their free time to study and practice in preparation for the event. They studied science, mathematics, social studies, communication arts, fine arts/performing arts, and miscellaneous facts. They also practiced being fast on the buzzer, because if you don't buzz in first, you might not get the opportunity to answer a question, even if you know the correct answer!
All of their hard work and sacrifice really paid off. The 6th grade team took 2nd place in the grade level competition and the 5th grade team took 1st place! The team was coached by Mr. Dave Imler and Mrs. Joy Schnorbus. "We are so proud of how these kids did! They worked really hard and represented Lonedell in a great way," said Schnorbus.
Students were honored at Lonedell's morning assembly and received certificates and/or medals for their efforts. Students taking part were Andrea W, Desi Y., Kate G., Sara R., Jaycee M., Sarah M., Emily F., Alyssa H., Miki D., Matthew W., Mike J., and Taylor M. Congratulations to our students and their coaches.
